There are two separate parts – The Base is connected to the camera with a screw which is the connection to the tripod as well. The Leather Flap is the lens cover, it is connected to the base and can be easily opened with two snap fasteners.

    I like the extra grip and protection of this case for my Canon 6D, can even put the camera on my tripod while the case is on. Been using it for a few months now and it looks like when I got it!
